At core, Larkspur is a small town in a magnificent setting. The town's main street, Magnolia Avenue, is the heart of downtown. There is a lot to discover within the four short blocks: boutiques, specialty shops, cafes, first class restaurants and more. Many of the original buildings have been preserved, and downtown Larkspur is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a 'turn of the century home town.' Larkspur residents are obsessed with preserving their small town ambience.

Larkspur is filled with a head-turning mix of architectural styles. Most of the homes are in older neighborhoods, and many have views of the mountains or the bay. Larkspur real estate is among Marin's more pricey areas. Housing is in short supply, and new development is limited. The area does offer a small selection of low-cost condominiums however.

The average sold price in the Larkspur MLS for 2011 was $1,251,298 for a single-family home. Larkspur home values have grown the last couple years.
